“Melted rabbits” is a continuation, deformation and liberation of the Animals of Masters series. DGM had been making sculptural interpretations of famous 2 dimensional works, Picasso’s bull, Lochner’s donkey, Heronymous Bosch’ mailman... The little sculptural pendant of Durer’s young hare drawing from 1502 was a compelling piece, a much loved and desired creature. Exploration, modification and destruction of existing forms play a big part in DGM's work. DGM sees reason in the unexpected and the melted rabbits are not the rabbits one expects. This work is to surprise people and make them question what they are seeing and whether or not jewellery needs to be perfect.
As each rabbit is melted by the artist, each one is different.
