Artist Dina González Mascaró is a master of texture. Her goal is never perfection, but rather imperfection and the mystery and beauty that comes with it. Her work is rarely without some mark, scratch, dent, or full-blown texture. Here, DinaGM takes her mark-making to a new place, where the artist’s gesture becomes something we perceive as nature: tree bark.

This series called Bark West has DGM exploring the west coast cedar, fir and arbutus trees that surround Vancouver.

Thick or thin, smoother or deeply grooved, masculine, feminine, in-between... the bark possibilities are endless and the variations allow for everyone and anyone to find their individual piece of bark.
